Fire Skies is a large-sized abstract painting created with many tones including bright primary colours red, blue and green acrylic paints. It’s large enough to make a striking statement in any room but not too large to dominate the space it hangs in.
I am very passionate and dramatic when I paint which creates lots of random scuffs and marks on the canvas of the painting. I am always looking to see how the different colours are working with each other while mentally trying to decide what colour of paint I will choose next. I tend to paint fast and furious and I think this is evident in the dramatic movement that is showing in this colourful abstract painting.
I feel I have achieved a very strong sense of balance with this painting, especially with so many variations of colour working together.
If you look closely at the piece you will see whipping brush strokes and scuff marks that were made with palette knives and fingertips. You will notice various layers of paint and colours that have mixed together to create a whole new world of their own. Usually, my paintings have 3 or 4 paintings underneath the finished piece that you see, this is because it’s hard to get a painting just right and to a point where I feel able to stop. Otherwise known as a finished piece of art.
